As I slept among the spring flowers
Last night; I dreamt of our summers
I felt the heat touch my eyelids
And parch my lips ever so slightly.
And anticipated the kiss that would
Wet them back to an easy smile

And fill the gap between our gaze
Mud splattered shirts and musty smells
Of crowds we grew into ev’ry eve
As we found our way into each night
Love,
I dreamt of the autumn we never saw
But that we talked a lot about
As we huddled around the wayside fires
And lingered on till the embers died out
Love
Last night; I slept among the spring flowers.
And I, I dreamed
